"I need to think about it…"
“I need to think about it.” Ughhhh, that dreaded sentence every coach hates to hear. Especially after having a long and meaningful conversation with a prospective client who has come to you looking for your help, but wraps things up with, “I need to think about it.”
Happy 2-Tips Tuesday!
Here are two ideas to consider this week.

1. “I need to think about it.”
Ughhhh, that dreaded sentence every coach hates to hear. Especially after having a long and meaningful conversation with a prospective client who has come to you looking for your help, but wraps things up with, “I need to think about it.”
It’s the ultimate cop-out, defined perfectly by Merriam-Webster’s dictionary as “to avoid or neglect problems, responsibilities, or commitments.”
I feel that in my bones. ☠️
Last time this happened to me, I decided to write a short coaching post that I shared online. Here’s a snippet:
You can view the whole thing here:

After writing that post, I decided to print it out and keep it up my sleeve. I had it in my head that I was going to read it out loud to the right person, word-for-word.
A few days later when I heard someone say, “I need to think about it”, I pulled it out.
“Hey, before we wrap up our call, can I read you something I recently wrote down? One of our values here is to be curious, kind, and honest with the people we coach. And so in that spirit, I’d like to read this to you if that’s ok with you.
So I’m curious… Does ‘I need to think about it’ mean any of those things to you?”
She paused for a second, and then I could hear the smile in her voice.
“Damn, yes, you got me. You’re calling me out. I’m scared to do this. I struggle to believe in myself. I’m afraid to fail and let myself down, yet again. And that’s exactly why I need to work with someone like you. Ok, sign me up.”
We start working together this Thursday. :)
2. The Ultimate Health & Wealth Hack
The ultimate health and wealth life hack if you coach others for a living…
Make a rule to never think twice about investments in yourself.
Books, quality food, fitness, coaching, and personal development all fit into this bucket.
These investments pay dividends for a long time.
Think about material purchases instead—wait 24 hours to see if you still want it before buying.
Knowledge compounds. Material things diminish.
Every investment in yourself will multiply tenfold.
The most well-paid coaches I know have also done the most personal and professional development over the course of their careers.
Your earning potential and the value you bring to your clients directly reflects your own inner work.
Read that again, and share / save this post on Instagram.
