Certifications ≠ Clients

Why more certifications won’t grow your nutrition business — and what to focus on instead. Learn how to attract more clients, build trust, and create sustainable success as a nutrition coach. Plus, one quote that reframes your entire marketing strategy.
Happy 2-Tips Tuesday!
Here are two ideas to consider this week.
By Jennifer Broxterman, RD
1. Why More Certifications Won’t Fix Your Business
You’ve taken one (or maybe two) certifications already.
So… why isn’t your business taking off?
I probably have 10+ certifications to my name… and more industry conferences than I can count (none of which I regret!)
But what most nutrition coaches don’t realize?
It’s not a lack of knowledge keeping them stuck.
You’re not struggling because you haven’t taken enough courses.
You’re struggling because no one’s ever taught you how to turn what you do know into a thriving business.
Truth bomb: More new information won't fix a systems problem.
And collecting more certifications doesn’t fix your offer, your niche, or your confidence.
For me, things finally shifted when I started learning how to solve real problems, build systems, and actually speak my client’s language in my 1-on-1 nutrition coaching sessions. I also started using coaching games and scientific metaphors, and my clients ate it up and told all their friends!
✅ My work felt easier
✅ My confidence grew
✅ My client roster filled up — and stayed full!
(Like in real time, I just signed up 4 new nutrition clients yesterday, and my next soonest opening is May 27, so I’m booking 6 weeks out as I send this to you!)
Suddenly, I wasn’t “hoping” to make it. I had actually built something stable, joyful, and sustainable.
That’s what I teach inside my PRO$PER Nutrition Certification, and why we include 1-on-1 mentoring with every coach we work with.
It’s not about collecting more letters after your name. It’s about learning what actually grows your business.

2. Quote I’m Loving
“You don’t get paid what you’re worth. You get paid for the problems you solve.”
As a nutrition coach, that hit me hard.
Your clients aren’t paying for “protein targets” or “meal ideas.”
They’re paying for peace of mind around food.
They’re paying to feel better in their bodies.
They’re paying for results, and a trusted guide to help them get there.
If you can clearly communicate the real problems you solve, you’ll never struggle to get clients again.
Stack on client wins and helping people feel better, well, that's when you become unstoppable!
