Get To Know Me: Jennifer Broxterman, RD
Here are a bunch of fun and crazy things you might not have known about me! I beat stage 3 ovarian cancer. I taught myself to ride a unicycle. I went to motorcycle race school. My dog Asha steals knives and bananas!
Happy 2-Tips Tuesday!
Here are two ideas to consider this week.
By Jennifer Broxterman, RD
1. No More Faking It
Hey, youuuuuu?
What do you do when someone says hi to you, and you have NO FREAKING IDEA how you know them?
My husband Dave has the memory of an AI robot. As a 16-year CrossFit affiliate owner, he somehow remembers every member, drop-in athlete, their back squat PR, their dog's name, and what they do for a living. It’s freakishly impressive.
Me? No bueno.
I struggle with names. In my defense, I blame it on multiple childhood concussions—ice hockey and tobogganing… not great.
But if I can pair a name with a few random facts, my brain finally comes back online.
So, just so you're not all, "Do I know you?" every time you see me in your inbox… let’s fix that.
Me: Jen Broxterman, RD
(Call me Jen or Jennifer, I go by both! And my really close friends call me Brox.)
✅ Canadian girl who grew up watching the Care Bears and loving all things nature. And yes, I occasionally say eh? 🍁🇨🇦
✅ Athlete since birth: Soccer, ice hockey, tap dance (yes, really), jazz, ballet, swimming, baseball, volleyball, cross-country, track & field. Then dual varsity athlete (hockey & rowing), then 4x CrossFit Regional competitor.
No natural talent—just outworked everyone.
✅ I used to wash my pepperoni. Didn’t know that was weird until Dave’s horrified face told me otherwise. 😂 Read the full story here—you’ll judge me. That’s okay. It’s hilarious.
✅ One food for life? Easy. Pizza from Italy. 🍕 Specifically from Florence. Every bite was out-of-this-world deliciousness!
✅ Education overkill? Maybe. I have two undergrad degrees (Life Sciences, Foods & Nutrition), a Master’s in Nutrition & Behavior Change Psychology, and I’m a Registered Dietitian. I’m a Kind Nerd who loves learning and helping others live healthier, happier lives.
✅ Favorite saying to my clients:
"Be curious, be kind, be honest." It’s even framed on my office wall.
✅ I once taught myself to ride a unicycle just to feel what it’s like to be a total beginner again. Disaster at first—but I eventually nailed it. Here's proof!
✅ Also taught myself to surf and ride a motorcycle. Went to motorcycle race school too!
✅ I beat terminal cancer. At 34, I was diagnosed with an extremely rare, aggressive ovarian cancer. Survival odds? 8%. I skipped chemo and used nutrition + mindset strategies to put my cancer into remission. 🎗️ Here’s the wild story.
✅ I’ve been coaching nutrition since 2010. I’ve worked with NHL players, Olympic athletes, and high-profile clients—but my favorite clients? Regular people who just want to eat better, lose weight without crash diets, and be healthier for their families. That’s my jam.
✅ I’ve been a guest on over 70 podcasts! I love talking about nutrition coaching, behavior change, and business growth. If you want to level up as a coach, start with these three must-listen episodes:

✅ I have the cutest dog. Meet Asha, my black lab pup. Her name means “alive and well.”
✅ Asha has a very mischievous streak. She once stole a knife out of the knife block. Bananas in the fruit bowl? Also not safe. She and the knife were fine… the bananas were not.
✅ This is me trying to look professional:
✅ This is what I actually look like most of the time:
✅ Yes, I really do chop a weekly “Veggie Bucket.” My clients swear it’s the easiest hack they’ve learned from me to eat healthier! Check out this quick YouTube video to see why.
