Don’t Set Goals, Set Sacrifices
Don't set goals, set your sacrifices instead. Every single goal you have has a price that is required to achieve it. Consider it an entry fee at the door of success.
Happy 2-Tips Tuesday!
Here are two ideas to consider this week.
By Jennifer Broxterman, RD
1. Don't Set Goals, Set Sacrifices
Don’t set goals, set your sacrifices instead. Everyone always says things like,
“I want to make $100,000 this year.”
“I going to lose 25 lb.”
It doesn’t work like that.
You’re only going to do it if you’re willing to pay the price.
Every single goal you have has a price that is required to achieve it. Consider it an entry fee at the door of success.
When discussing goals, the question really becomes,
“What are you going to give up to get it?”
So next time you’re setting goals with your nutrition clients (or yourself), stop and ask this question:
“What am I willing to sacrifice to get what I want?”
When you know the answer to that question, that is the price of admission to the thing you want most.
2. Motivational Interviewing & Nutrition Coaching Games
Last week I went live with Trevor Wittwer on the Coach Catalyst podcast Build with the CEO. We did a fun segment demonstrating nutrition coaching games using motivational interviewing, with great feedback from the coaches who tuned in!
ICYMI you can catch the replay here on YouTube. If you’ve got only 30 minutes this week to improve your skills as a coach, make it this video.
